Meet Lola
Lola Pyne is a Marketing Strategist, Educator, and Entrepreneur who believes good marketing should do three things: help founders make better decisions, attract the right customers, and build businesses that are sustainable over time.
She’s the founder of PYNE Creative, a boutique marketing consultancy that helps small business owners stop chasing trends and start building brands with clear positioning. Her work combines Marketing Strategy, Experiential Design, and Entrepreneurship Education—and it’s sculpted by a career that spans federal institutions, creative industries, and firsthand experience of building businesses from the ground up.
From big institutions to kitchen-table businesses
Before launching PYNE Creative, Lola spent nearly 20 years at the Library of Congress. There, she began by leading web development and later spent more than a decade leading marketing and outreach for high-visibility exhibitions and public initiatives—work that demanded creative problem-solving to engage niche audiences while remaining accessible to the public at large.
But while she was helping large institutions launch major public campaigns and programs, she was also building passion projects on the side—from web-based work to creative ventures—laying the groundwork for her path as a serial entrepreneur. That progression ultimately led to Oasis Soul Scent Co., an award-winning candle and body care brand inspired by soulful music.
Running a product-based business while juggling accelerators, grants, and the messy middle of growth beyond the startup phase showed her something important: small business owners are often asked to market without a map.
Turning marketing decisions into clear, confident next steps
That insight led Lola to start PYNE Creative. Her approach is practical and grounded in strategy, helping founders connect marketing decisions to tangible outcomes. This includes clearer messaging, stronger customer experiences, and steadier revenue.
She’s renowned for translating complex theory into plans people can execute with the resources they have—be it designing a trade-show experience, penning a brand story, or teaching entrepreneurs how to align marketing activity with business priorities.
Educating and supporting entrepreneurs at every stage
Lola is the creator of The Total Package, a hands-on branding and marketing program developed with municipalities like the City of Laurel, Maryland. She is also an adjunct professor in MICA’s Creative Entrepreneurship master’s program, a mentor with SEED Spot, and a contributor to entrepreneurship education at institutions including her alma mater, Spelman College.
In 2025, she was named one of 50 Black Marketers to Watch by the African American Marketing Association (AAMA); recognition that reflects not just her work, but her commitment to helping other entrepreneurs build businesses where the next step isn’t a constant question.
